This fall, DAN and DAN World presented the 15th annual Cozumel Safety Seminars to an audience of dive professionals and rescue personnel in Cozumel, Mexico.
The event was held at the Cozumel Island Museum and was attended by more than 80 people.
βThis event is such an important opportunity for DAN to connect with dive pros and first responders in the Cozumel dive community,β said DAN President and CEO Bill Ziefle. βCozumel is one of the worldβs premier dive destinations, so we really appreciate seeing such great attendance by the local dive operators year after year.β
This yearβs seminars were as follows:
- DAN and Dive Safety by DAN COO Panchabi Vaithiyanathan, PhD
- Creating Safe Dive Communities by DAN Director, Medical Services, Dr. Camilo Saraiva
- Barotraumas No Pulmonares del Buceo by DAN Medical Consultant Dr. Dario Gomez
- Efectos de Long COVID en Buceo by Dr. Cuauhtemoc Sanchez
The event was offered free of charge, just as it was in previous years. The audience remained engaged throughout the seminars, asking questions following each presentation. Afterward, DAN staff raffled off safety equipment to the attendees.
βIt was a pleasure to share the stage with local dive medicine experts, Drs. Gomez and Sanchez,β said DAN COO Panchabi Vaithiyanathan. βTheir commitment to safe diving practices β and the commitment of all the dive pros in attendance β was inspirational. Itβs exactly the sort of energy you want to see at a world-class diving destination like Cozumel.β
