DAN and NAUI Announce Alliance to Extend Reach of Dive Safety Programs

The centerpiece of this joint initiative will see DAN and NAUI come together to offer DAN’s first-aid training programs to NAUI divers and members. This effort will include the full suite of DAN courses, including Basic Life Support and First Aid, Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries, Neurological Assessment, and Diving Emergency Management Provider. In the coming months NAUI will incorporate co-branded DAN-NAUI first-aid courses into their curricula to expand dive specialty certifications available to their customers. In addition, DAN will offer NAUI members an on-line instructor upgrade program that provides an introduction to the DAN programs and opportunities for professional growth.

Just as important, NAUI will work with DAN to disseminate DAN’s health and safety resources. These materials were designed to create awareness and help minimize diving injuries. DAN’s health and diving resources are relevant and accessible to all divers and include topics such as decompression, equalization and air consumption.

“We continually search for effective and influential channels to spread our message throughout the dive community,” explains DAN President and CEO Bill Ziefle. “Allying with like-minded organizations allows us to exponentially disseminate relevant and sound information solely in the interest of diver safety.” Ziefle added, “We are excited to work with NAUI on this shared purpose.”

“NAUI’s mission and motto is “Dive Safety Through Education”. The opportunity to align with DAN allows NAUI to expand its role as a leader and trainer to promote diver safety. We are excited and pleased to join DAN in such an important mission”, said Dallas Edmiston, Executive Director, NAUI. “As pioneers of sport diving instruction, safety has been the cornerstone of NAUI standards and training since our inception. This alliance reinforces that commitment to the diving community.”
