Dive Shows and events

The expo, now in its 17th consecutive year, is organized by AsiaEvents Exsic Sdn Bhd. In its new venue at MITEC, the show will occupy Hall 6 on Level 2. According to the organizers of MIDE, the event will be bigger than previous years, and the space will comfortably feature the latest products and services of local and international exhibitors from 14 countries.

With over 172 companies in 220 booths featured at the expo, attending visitors from 14 countries, including Australia, Brunei, China, Denmark, Estonia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and the United Kingdom, will see and learn about the latest products and services in scuba diving, as well as conservation interests, and two new areas—watersports and sailing.

“It is evident the dive industry is resilient, having bounced back in 2021 in the midst of a challenging time,” said Ms Ness Puvanes, founder and organizer. “Since then, the dive industry has been enjoying increased interest and a growing community.” She added that boating and water sports have also enjoyed a strong comeback.

A record-breaking year

Indeed, with a greater number of participating exhibitors focused on elevating their brand awareness among water-lovers, it is a record-breaking year. MIDE is expecting over 15,000 water enthusiasts to attend the show, including 10,000 professionals. Projected sales of RM25million are expected during the three-day event.

First timers

There will be 69 new exhibitors, including major organizations such as Malaysian Sub-Aqua, Malaysian Underwater Hockey Association and Eco District Association. In addition, newcomer Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) will be presenting a range of water sports activities. Water enthusiasts visiting the expo will also see more manufacturers and distributors of sail boats, dive boats, car topper boats, rescue boat and kayaks.

What’s on at MIDE

Discounted domestic flights.  If visitors book their flights to Kuala Lumpur by 26 May, Malaysia Airlines offers a 20% discount, with the promo code MHMIDE20, which must be applied during booking.

Dive Safety Partner.  The official Diving Safety Partner of the expo is DAN World, which offers diving accident coverage for divers and is dedicated to helping improve dive safety in Malaysia.

Conservation.  With this year’s theme, “Let’s Stay Connected to the Ocean,” ongoing conservation efforts to keep our oceans healthy will be a major focus of the event, including highlighting the work of non-profit organizations raising awareness for dive centers about standard operating procedures, as well as community education about single-use plastic and pollution, increasing numbers of protected marine species, the effects of climate change on the ocean, and much, much more.

Networking, face-to-face.  New business opportunities and partnerships will be fostered for business entrepreneurs, tourism boards, dive agencies, brand manufacturers and distributors using MIDE’s B2B platform.

Speakers.  On stage at MIDE, experts and TV personalities will share their knowledge and experiences in the underwater realm, covering topics such as cave diving, underwater photography, marine conservation, underwater archaeology, sailing expeditions, health, dive insurance and more.

By Teens for Teens.  In the spirit of dive education, teens will also speak on stage, inspiring other young people to take up the sport, sharing their personal conservation efforts to improve the marine environment.

Deals and promotions.  Don’t miss the chance to chat with dive operators and tourism representatives and take advantage of exclusive deals on offer during the expo, including dive holidays, gear, courses and the latest tech.

Lucky Draw Prizes.  Those who spend at least RM300 at the expo will be entered into the Purchaser’s Lucky Draw for a chance to win dive holiday prizes with a combined valued of RM50,000, including a grand prize liveaboard dive trip worth RM22,000!

Thanks

Endorsed by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIDE wishes to thank MATRADE for their unwavering support, as well as the Ministry of Tourism Arts, Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB), Sabah Tourism Board (STB), Tourism Promotions Board Philippines (TPBP), Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAS), DAN World (Asia-Pacific), X-Ray International Dive Magazine (Denmark), AmLeisure Media Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Scuba Diving Association (MSDA), Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCeb), Malaysia Association Conference Exhibition Of Suppliers (MACEOS), and all the exhibitors, suppliers, partners, dive agencies and media partners.
