Malaysia International Dive Expo (MIDE) is back!

Malaysia International Dive Expo (MIDE) is back!

Posted in:

After a hiatus of more than 20 months due to the pandemic, MIDE is finally back from 3–5 December 2021 at Kuala Lumpur’s World Trade Centre. It will be the show's 15th year of exhibition given 2020 was a write-off.

Malaysia International Dive Show is going to kick-start their event by holding a local market in December

Our focus will be on reconnecting Malaysian dive businesses with our local dive community, stimulating the interest of fellow underwater enthusiasts to visit the many local dive destinations around Malaysia, writes Ness Puvaness, the show's organiser.

As such, the theme this year will be ‘Let’s Meet & Dive Locally’.

As we know, the pandemic has crippled our economy and destroyed many businesses. Without a doubt, this has been one of the most challenging times for us in the dive industry. The rollercoaster of 2020’s SOP saw many stop-starts across every industry including ours, taking a toll on all aspects of running a business.

Indeed, it has been a long and weary road for everyone, but the light at the end of the tunnel is bright and we look forward to ending 2021 with a bang!

Welcoming back our dive community of water lovers, businesses, underwater experts and partners, we look to spearhead our beloved industry into 2022 with sheer excitement and enthusiasm!

What to expect at MIDE 2021

Given the SOPs and concerns surrounding the current climate, MIDE will be presenting a more boutique show. Visitors will find and enjoy a balanced mix of dive operators, destination authorities, dive equipment suppliers, and more.

There will also be a line-up of speakers sharing their knowledge and expertise on various topics including our marine friends, sustainability, photography, health and more.

And as always, attendees with a minimum spend at the Expo will be in the running to win some fabulous prizes courtesy of our exhibitors.

Health and Safety

Adjusting to the new norm and adhering to the strict guidelines provided by the Malaysian health and security authorities (MKN and KKM), the set-up and thorough screening facilities will ensure the health and safety of all of our staff members, crew, exhibitors and attendees.

Attendees will need to check in with the MySejahtera QR code and temperatures taken before admission into the exhibition hall. Physical distancing amongst visitors, exhibitors and team members will also need to be observed in accordance with the guidelines when attending the expo.

As visitor numbers are limited, team members at the entrance will ensure the order of all visitors entering the exhibition hall, keeping track of the number of attendees at any given time.

Fact file

Established in 2006, the Malaysia International Dive Expo (MIDE) is a highly popular international event, which draws in more than 10,000 recorded visitors each year.
