Unimatic’s minimalist U1 series of dive watches was an instant hit upon its release in 2015. Handsome, highly legible dials combined with perfect proportions drew hordes of adoring fans, from hardcore divers to city slickers and everyone in between. The Modello Uno professional divers are coming back, this time, in a slimmer case and powered by an automatic Swiss Sellita SW200-1 movement, available in brushed finish and black DLC coating.

The new ref. U1S-MP and U1S-MPN are based around a 40mm, 316L stainless steel cases with a 22mm lug width and drilled lugs. They feature a 60-minute, unidirectional rotating bezel with a fully graduated, matte black engraved aluminum insert. This ingenious design solution allows the wearer to have a versatile minimalist watch, which only at a more attentive glance reveals the measuring typical of the professional diver watch, in that way harmoniously combine utility with minimal design. Slimmer than previous entries in the series, they clock in at just 11.6mm thick yet still feature the 300m of water resistance that fans count on. The dials feature the matte black look of Unimatic’s original U1 with striking white dot, dash, and triangular indices and sword hands, all of which are liberally coated in C1 Super-LumiNova. A silver, open seconds track is joined by a convenient date window at 6 o’clock that is subtly outfitted with a black background. Other than the Unimatic wordmark and two lines of text, the dials are utterly devoid of extraneous decoration and wouldn’t seem out of place on the wrist of a combat diver in the 1960s.
