Shearwater has introduced two limited-edition versions of its Tern TX dive computer, available in blue and purple colourways inspired by healthy oceans and recovering coral reefs. Only 750 units of each colour will be produced worldwide, with a contribution from every sale supporting marine conservation organisations working on coral restoration and marine protection.

Shearwater Perdix 3

The Shearwater Perdix 3 is a wrist-mounted dive computer designed for recreational, technical and rebreather divers who require a large display, wireless gas integration and support for multiple diving modes. It builds on the Perdix platform with updated hardware and additional environmental monitoring functions.

The Perdix 3 features a 2.2-inch AMOLED colour display protected by aluminosilicate glass. The housing is depth-rated to 260 metres and uses a user-replaceable AA battery, allowing divers to choose between alkaline, lithium or rechargeable NiMH cells.

The computer supports Air, Nitrox, Trimix, Closed Circuit/BO and Gauge modes, and can monitor up to four transmitters simultaneously. It includes an integrated digital compass and uses Shearwater’s Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression model with Gradient Factors.

Shearwater’s new Swift GPS transmitter adds surface location tracking to any Shearwater air-integrated dive computer.

The Shearwater Swift GPS is a compact transmitter designed to extend the functionality of any Shearwater air‑integrated dive computer by capturing surface GPS coordinates of dive entry and exit points and providing real‑time gas‑pressure data during the dive. The device supports a depth rating of 200 metres and operates within an ambient temperature range of +4 °C to +34 °C (with short‑term tolerance from ‑10 °C to +50 °C). Weight is approximately 135 g and dimensions are 76 mm (length) × 34 mm (diameter).

Shearwater Introduces the Perdix 2 Journeys Edition

Following the successful 2022 launch of the Teric Journeys Edition, Shearwater Research is excited to announce the next chapter in its Journeys series with the debut of the Perdix 2 Journeys Edition.

Drawing inspiration from the history of diving helmets and tools — this new edition features a bold bronze-coloured titanium bezel, combining rugged reliability with Shearwater’s fully-featured flagship Perdix 2 dive computer.

Shearwater Issues Important Notice for All Tern and Tern TX Users

A serious issue has been identified with Tern and Tern TX v34 firmware. A fix is coming Monday April 14th, but in the meantime, it is important to take a precautionary measure.

The issue is that if using Air mode and the Nitrox mode gas has been programmed to something other than air (21%), then that programmed gas is used while diving. This could result in a less conservative dive plan than is appropriate.

Prevention: If using firmware v34, do not use single gas Air Mode. Instead, use the single gas Nitrox Mode with 21% gas programmed.

Updated firmware for Tern and Tern TX will be released Monday April 14, 2025. Please check our website for the newest version.

Shearwater Tern TX Review

The Tern TX is the middle model in Shearwater’s “watch series” of dive computers. The series includes the little brother Tern and the big brother Teric. Tern TX is a dive computer for more advanced sport diving, up to advanced nitrox.

It has five different modes/dive methods plus an everyday clock:

• Air: For regular sport diving with air.
• Nitrox: For regular sport diving with a nitrox mix.
• 3 Gas Nitrox: Decompression diving with three different gas mixes of air and nitrox.
• Gauge: A bottom timer that only records time and depth.
• Freediving: For snorkelling and freediving.

The computer is approved for depths up to 120m, which should be sufficient.

Shearwater Peregrine TX

The Peregrine TX, developed by Canadian brand Shearwater, is a dive computer designed to integrate the user-friendly interface of its predecessor, the Peregrine, with advanced features from the high-end model, Perdix 2.

These enhancements include air integration and a digital compass. Aimed at sport divers, the Peregrine TX offers functionality up to a depth of 120 meters and includes a full-color, easily readable screen. It supports multiple diving modes such as Air, Nitrox, and Gauge, and is capable of connecting up to four transmitters. 

Additional features include a tilt-compensated three-axis digital compass, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity, vibration alerts, and a silicone band with a stainless steel clasp.
