Service Announcement: Suunto EON Core Strap

We are aware that in some rare cases the buckle tongue on the Suunto EON Core strap may be shorter than intended, which can allow the tongue to slip through the buckle when tightening the strap. This is not how the buckle is designed to function and does not meet the quality standards we expect from our products.

If you have faced issues with your Suunto EON Core strap, we recommend contacting Suunto Customer Support at support@suunto.com. The strap can be replaced under warranty.

Suunto under new ownership

Amer Sports has agreed to sell Suunto to Liesheng. According to a press release from Suunto, Liesheng is "a leading Chinese technology company focusing on the smart and sport wearables electronics segment."

The transaction has been signed and it’s expected to close in Q1 2022.

Founded in Guangdong, China in 2015, Liesheng is a global consumer-electronics company with its products being sold in more than 100 countries around the world. It is ranked top globally in the wireless audio field and has successfully developed the consumer electronics brand Haylou.

Suunto Product Recall

Suunto has today issued a product recall of all Suunto Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitters and Suunto Tank PODs.

The Finnish manufacturer has identified a potential safety risk affecting all Suunto Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitters and Suunto Tank PODs that wirelessly transmit cylinder pressure to compatible Suunto dive computers.

In two reported incidents the exterior case of a Suunto Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitter has failed during regular dry land pressure testing. Although extremely rare, there is the potential for injury because of the risk of bursting.

Suunto is like Kellogg’s cornflakes to me—a brand that has been with me, like, forever. Well, perhaps not quite that long, but at least since my early diving days, now obscured in the fog of memory. Several decades down the line, I am now on my fourth instrument. Not that I have actually worn out any of them; they have all been good and reliable companions. But as newer and much more capable models invariably came along, upgrades were too hard to resist. I was thus excited to be given a chance to visit Suunto in Finland, and have a look behind the scenes.
