WRECKS4ALL 2.0 Conference

The Adriatic Sea holds a wealth of underwater archaeological sites, from ancient shipwrecks to submerged archaeological landscapes. With the increasing interest in maritime cultural heritage, there is a growing need for responsible and sustainable management of these precious resources. 

The conference titled "The Future of the Adriatic Past - Challenges of the Adriatic Underwater Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Tourism Development" will take place on April 23, 2024, at Hotel Cattaro in Kotor.

Montenegro stages two-week underwater cultural heritage event

Held in the Adriatic coastal town of Kotor, “Underwater Cultural Landscapes of Montenegro” will run from 21 April until 3 May. The event aims to illuminate and make accessible to the general public the numerous cultural facets of Montenegro's underwater cultural heritage.

Wrecks & Archaeology

The project will promote underwater cultural assets and target tourism development by using a multidisciplinary approach to present and document the shipwrecks, navigation routes, harbours, anchorages, and other archaeological sites along the Montenegrin coast.

Montenegro establishes maritime archaeology research unit

The Laboratory of Maritime Archaeology is the first maritime archaeology research unit in Montenegro tasked with illuminating and making the underwater cultural heritage of Montenegro accessible to the public.

Wrecks & Archaeology

The goal of the Laboratory of Maritime Archeology is to position Montenegro on the international scientific map of maritime and underwater archaeology and to investigate and document the shipwrecks, navigation routes, harbours, anchorages and other remnants of human activity along the Montenegrin coast.

Maritime archaeological finds within the Montenegrin basin, although insufficiently explored, are very diverse.
