Avoiding Bad Gas - Tips for Preventing Breathing-Gas Contamination

Sources of contamination include hydrocarbons from compressor lubricants, carbon monoxide (CO) from engine exhaust (or overheated compressor oil) and impurities from the surrounding environment such as methane and carbon dioxide (CO2). Dust particles in breathing gas can also be hazardous, potentially impairing respiratory function or damaging diving equipment. Excessive moisture can cause corrosion in scuba cylinders and other dive gear and may cause regulators to freeze due to adiabatic cooling (heat loss following increased gas volume).

Bauer Mariner 320 Compressor

We challenged our engineers to raise the state-of-the-art quality of our mobile pro compressors to a new level. And they succeeded – perfectly. Their secret? An all-new design for the front housing. The iconic lines now conceal a completely new cooling air flow design, which boosts cooling by a remarkable 25 per cent and thus cuts the output temperature of the compressor block by 10 per cent. The advantage for divers is more air in the cylinder without repressurizing! The new design dramatically expands the range of high-temperature applications where the compressor systems can be used

When is a grill not a grill. When it’s fitted to a Bauer 320. Bauer recently challenged their engineers to improve Bauer’s powerful, portable 320 compressor. The team went back to basics and reviewed how they kept the compressor cool. (It’s important to keep things cool when pumping gas). The engineers soon realised that if they changed the grill design on the housing from something you could use for BBQing steak on, to angled blades, they could optimise the air flow into the block.

Nardi TT-Mix

According to the presentation, the panel can even analyse leftover gases in used tanks and calculate how to top them off with a new blend according to specs, minimising the loss of expensive gases while calculating the price for the fill. The panel, which can be remotedly controlled with an app, weighs 13kg and comes with brackets for easy mounting
