The museum, a collaborative effort between the local government of the Red Sea province and Egypt's Ministry of Environment, spans three newly designated diving sites near the resort city of Hurghada.

The goal of the new museum

The primary objective of the initiative, as conveyed by the Red Sea province's governor earlier in the week, is to redirect the highly popular diving activities in Hurghada away from coral reefs. These reefs have suffered erosion due to decades of extensive tourism. The strategy involves introducing alternative dive sites in close proximity.

A new bipartisan Senate bill, the "Hotel Fees Transparency Act," seeks to make hotel pricing more transparent by ensuring that consumers are better protected from hidden costs and made aware of the total cost of their stay, including any additional fees, at the time of booking.

This move is in response to the growing concern over hidden charges that often surprise guests upon checkout.

Two male great white sharks, named "Jekyll" and "Simon", tagged off Georgia's coast in December, displayed a groundbreaking migration pattern.

From April, Jekyll and Simon's joint journey saw them traverse the Atlantic Coast, passing places like Ocracoke and Virginia Beach in a synchronised manner. While sharks sometimes gather for mating or feeding, their migrations are usually solitary.

The submerged relic, a testament to the advanced seafaring capabilities of the ancient Phoenicians, lies off the coast of Mazarrón in the Mediterranean Sea.

Unveiling Phoenician maritime prowess

Discovered more than three decades ago, this Phoenician ship is one of the best-preserved examples of ancient seafaring vessels. The remarkable condition of the shipwreck promises invaluable insights into Phoenician shipbuilding, navigation and trade practices that were a cornerstone of their civilization.

With an estimated weight of 412.3 pounds (187 kilograms) and a length of 8.2 feet (2.5 meters), this newly documented species is roughly the size of a modern-day bottlenose dolphin.

Named Tutcetus rayanensis, this creature belonged to the extinct basilosauridae family, which was one of the earliest groups to become fully aquatic. As revealed in a study published in Communications Biology on Thursday, this diminutive specimen is considerably older than other basilosaurids from the Eocene Epoch.

Stan's tale began as a young boy enamoured with the sea, diving into its depths with nothing but a spear in hand. His naval service during World War II further cultivated this connection. Post-war, his journey took a serendipitous turn when he dived into a glacial pond in Maine, a modest start to an illustrious career that would see him traverse the world's oceans.

Pensel-klippekrabbens naturlige leveområde er Sibiriens og Japans kyster og den er formentlig kommet til Danmark med ballastvandet fra andre lande. Arten blev første gang fundet i Europa i den franske havneby La Rochelle i 1994. Det menes at den blev ført hertil i 1993 af et skib der fragtede biler fra Asien og anløb La Rochelle. Da skibet efterfølgede kom på værft i Hamborg fandt man man i hvert fald seks individer da man inspicerede skroget.
