Ode to the Moon Jelly

Ode to the Moon Jelly

Posted in:

The moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) also called the common jellyfish, moon jelly or saucer jelly is almost entirely translucent and can be recognized by its four horseshoe-shaped gonads.

The moon jelly is found in the North, Black, Baltic and Caspian Seas, Northeast Atlantic, Greenland, northeastern USA and Canada, Northwest Pacific and South America.

Moon jellyfish, ethereal and fair,

Drifting through the depths, a ballet in air.

Translucent bodies, a delicate grace,

Invisible currents guide your embrace.

Moonlit tendrils, trailing behind,

A dance of beauty, nature's design.

Gentle pulsations, rhythmic and slow,

In the tranquil sea's ebb and flow.

Mysteries hidden in your gelatinous form,

A testament to life's diverse norm.

From the depths you rise, an ocean's bloom,

A living wonder, in the moon's soft gloom.

So fragile, yet resilient you sail,

An enchanting presence, a translucent veil.

Moon jellyfish, a marvel to see,

In the boundless depths of the endless sea.
