The National Diving & Activity Centre in Chepstow, Wales has announced that a new diving attraction will be sunk in March 2019.
The Chepstow dive site took delivery of a decommissioned Hyperbaric Chamber on Friday 4 January 2019.
We understand that the ex-DDRC Healthcare chamber will be sunk in approximately 30 mt / 100 ft of fresh water.
Severn Bridge Toll Scrapped
NDAC is now a more attractive inland diving destination because the Severn Bridge tolls were scrapped just before Christmas. The Severn Estuary has treacherous tides, hence people have paid to cross the river since Roman times.
On Monday 17 December 2018 the centuries-old tax (approximately 800 years) was cancelled. This means that divers no longer have to pay £6.70 (car), £13.40 (large van / minibus) or £20 (buses / lorry) to cross the Severn River from England to enter South Wales.
