A North Wales dive centre has announced it will be hosting a Scuba Pride event in July 2018.
The event will be held on Saturday 21 July at Vivian Diving Quarry and hosted by Dutton Divers.
The day will feature guest speakers, dive manufacturers, recreational and tech try dives, and a BBQ. Apres dive events include a karaoke and rainbow face painting.
Event organiser Clare Dutton stated "we want to show that scuba diving is open to everyone, without prejudice, and positively encourage those that have been reluctant to take part in our sport because they didn't think they 'fitted in'.”
Information and tickets can be found online.
At present the UK has one gay and lesbian dive club: GLUG. The Gay and Lesbian Underwater Group was founded in 1991 in London for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender divers and has members across the UK and the world. Whilst the club is aimed at the LGBT community, straight divers are also welcome to join GLUG.
