Another collection of dive tales, insights and reflections by Simon Pridmore, our most prolific and longstanding contributor
Simon Pridmore returns with Technically Speaking: Talks on Technical Diving, Volume 2, a new anthology of his popular dive-themed essays and stories. As one of the most prolific contributors to X-Ray Mag, Pridmore brings together 28 pieces—many previously published, others entirely new—that reflect his global experiences and deep engagement with the diving community.
Ranging from historical profiles and personal reflections to safety advice and dive travel commentary, the volume continues the tone set by its predecessor: accessible, insightful and often quietly humorous. It includes pieces on topics such as scuba etiquette, the evolution of diving instruction, decompression myths, and portraits of influential figures in diving history.
The book is organised into five thematic sections—divers and diving, dive safety, dive travel, dive culture, and dive history—making it easy to navigate. Aimed at both new and experienced divers, it offers a mix of entertaining anecdotes and thoughtful perspectives on how diving has developed and what it continues to mean for those drawn to it.
