The Mares Planet 88X TBP represents a new generation of dive regulators engineered for smooth breathing, robust environmental sealing and adaptable performance across recreational, technical and cold‑water diving.
The second stage introduces Airmatic Technology, a pneumatic valve system that replaces traditional mechanical springs with pressure‑driven operation. This design minimises internal friction and wear, producing very low breathing resistance and a sensation described as highly natural and consistent at all depths and breathing rates.
The regulator’s first stage employs a TBP dry kit (twin balanced piston) construction with full environmental sealing to prevent water, silt and contaminants from entering critical mechanisms. This sealed layout supports reliable operation in cold and silty conditions and meets stringent cold‑water performance expectations. Auto Sealing Technology (AST) further maintains dryness when the first stage is disconnected, and Dynamic Flow Control (DFC) optimises airflow distribution across all low‑pressure ports.
The second stage also benefits from Vortex Assisted Design (VAD), which promotes smooth, responsive airflow, a manual override button to adjust delivery and a lightweight Superflex hose for reduced drag. Mares’ All‑Metal Technology in the second‑stage body enhances thermal conductivity for cold water use and increases durability. The first stage offers a swivel turret with multiple low‑pressure and high‑pressure ports for flexible hose routing in technical setups.
