Java Sidemount

The Java Sidemount BCD is the first sidemount buoyancy system developed and manufactured in Indonesia for the international diving market. We first encountered the brand at the recent MIDE expo in Kuala Lumpur, where the company demonstrated both its sidemount and backmount configurations. 

The design presents a clean, well-finished appearance, and our hands-on inspection suggested reassuring build quality. The lightweight system can be converted from sidemount to backmount using two cam bands and a doughnut wing, a process that took only a few minutes during the demonstration. 

At the time of writing, detailed technical specifications were not yet available on the company’s website, which remains under development. However, the manufacturer’s social media channels provide further demonstrations of the system’s setup and adjustment. While these are promotional demonstrations rather than independent evaluations, they appear straightforward and informative.
