Hollis Issues Stop-Use Notice for 200LX Second Stage
Hollis has issued a formal Stop Use / Stop Sale notice for certain 200LX second-stage regulators, advising divers to remove affected units from service immediately due to a potential safety risk.
The notice applies to Hollis 200LX + DCX regulator systems and related second-stage configurations purchased between 2 May 2017 and 15 May 2025.
Component concern
According to parent company Huish Outdoors, internal components within some 200LX second stages may separate or fracture, either before or after a dive. The issue centres on the inlet tube assembly, which may lose impact resistance if the regulator is dropped or struck at the adjustable inhalation knob.
While no failures during active dives have been reported, the company states that a failure of this component could render the second stage non-functional underwater, creating a potential drowning hazard.
Stop use and quarantine
Dealers and distributors have been instructed to:
- Stop sales of affected products immediately
- Quarantine existing inventory
- Notify customers where possible
Divers are advised not to attempt repairs or modifications themselves.
Replacement process
Huish Outdoors has stated that replacement parts and a standardised retrofit procedure are being finalised. Repairs will be carried out by authorised technicians. A follow-up communication will outline parts availability and regional service procedures.
Affected part numbers include:
- 240.2010.07.M – 200LX + DCX Yoke
- 240.2011.07.M – 200LX + DCX DIN
- 240.2000.LX – 200LX Second Stage Black
Divers who believe their regulator may be affected should contact Hollis or their authorised dealer for guidance.
Safety notices of this nature are precautionary but should be treated seriously. If your unit falls within the specified purchase window, it should be removed from service until the official retrofit procedure is completed.
