The unit allows surface crews track up to eight divers via SubWave sonar and exchange preset messages via the Garmin Dive smartphone app, which also lets networked divers view their distance and direction back to the buoy, as well as monitor depth, tank pressure and location. It offers multi-GNSS, secure 60m connectivity, 15-hour battery life, post-dive heatmaps, and a rugged, impact-resistant design, water-rated IPX8 to 10m.

Key features:
• Up to eight divers can be supported by the Subwave sonar network.
• Send and receive preset messages via the Garmin Dive smartphone app.
• You can monitor tank pressures, depths, diver distances and more.
• Distance and direction to the buoy can be viewed by networked divers.
• After the dive, divers can see heatmaps of their exploration underwater.
• With up to 15 hours of battery life, there is power enough to cover a full day of diving.

Monitoring divers remotely.  Surface teams can remotely monitor divers who are using compatible dive computers connected through Descent T2 transceivers, allowing them to view divers’ air supply levels, current depths, and other key data. Alert functions automatically notify the surface crew of problems with a diver’s tank status or depth range.

Two-way messaging.  Via the Garmin Dive smart-device app, topside crew can send and receive preset messages with the networked Descent dive computers underwater, sending alerts to divers about situations they need to know. The range of diver-to-diver messaging is also extended by the Descent S1 buoy.

Tracking of diver location.  Surface crew can see the estimated distance to each diver within the SubWave sonar network, with tracking of divers up to 100 metres from the Descent S1 buoy.

Find my buoy.  Networked divers can view the distances and direction back to the Descent S1 buoy, allowing for clear return-to-base reference and increased situational awareness.

Post-dive review.  On the Garmin Dive smartphone app, networked divers can review their underwater heatmaps after surfacing to see roughly where they explored.

Rugged design.  Water-rated IPX8 to 10 metres, the compact 2-lb buoy is impact-resistant and sturdy.

Long battery life.  The buoy has a rechargeable lithium battery with up to 15 hours of battery life, allowing for longer dive time between recharges.

Secure connectivity.  Within a range of up to 60 metres, Wi-Fi technology connects the buoy wirelessly to the Garmin Dive smart-device app.

Multi-GNSS support.  Multiple satellite systems, including GPS and GLONASS, bolster signal reception on the surface in difficult conditions.
