Dive Rite Tech Tool Bag

No matter how well you look after your equipment, there will invariably be the odd moment when you need to tweak, replace or tighten something up. And that's when you need to have your tools handy.

It can be something as simple as using a Hex key to remove a DIN insert from a cylinder valve, so that you can screw in your regulator first stage.

Invariably, because that is how life works, you will need to use at least one tool when you are away from home. When you are diving locally, it is very easy to put your tool kit in the back of your vehicle, and some of my friends (Darren, Phil, Chris, Andy) travel with very impressive tool boxes. I have lost count the number of times I have been on a Brit liveaboard with them, and the surface interval has been spent happily tinkering and kit fettling.

Fettle (noun): put to rights, make as good as new, restore to working order, service

When you are diving further afield, especially travelling overseas, you don't want to haul a big box of tools. The perennial problem for divers is always limited luggage allowance. No one likes wasting valuable kilos effectively taking their socket and spanner set on holiday.

Dive Rite has a sturdy, secure solution that is great for transporting a selection of essential tools, when travelling light. The USA manufacturer has been inspired by the motorcycle community and developed a ‘Tech Tool Bag’ for the travelling diver, so that you don't lose that precious set of pliers. The bag should hold all the essential items you might need, especially if you are a technical diver. (Let's face it O rings, oxygen friendly lube and cable ties are our best friends).

The 1,000 denier compact Cordura roll has 11 stretchy pockets, and a separate zipped compartment for smaller items such as O rings. Once you have slid your screwdriver, pliers, spanner, cable ties, Allan keys, etc into the pockets, simply fold down the protective full length flap and then roll up the bag. The Dive Rite Tech Tool Bag is secured by a webbing strap and a plastic one inch buckle. A neat solution that weights just 155 g / 5.6 oz (empty) - just perfect for throwing into your gear bag, so that you can fix on the fly!
