The New York scuba diving show has confirmed that this year their 'Legend of the Sea' will be the Women Divers Hall of Fame.
This American non-profit organisation was founded 20 years ago by Jennifer King (Women’s Scuba Association), Patty Mortara (Women Underwater), Carol Rose (The Underwater Society of America), Hillary Viders PhD, Captain Kathy Weydig and Armand Zigahn (Beneath the Sea).
The 'Beneath the Sea' organisers stated "we want to recognise this unique, active, professional honour society that has used the myriad talents of its inducted members to forge a true sisterhood focused on a culture of education and service across these past twenty years."
'WDHOF' was established to recognise notable women leaders and innovators in the various diving communities: Arts, Sciences, Medicine, Sports, Exploration, Archaeology, Media, Safety, Education, Service, Business, Environment and Conservation. To date 238 women have been inducted.

In 2002 WDHOF established 3 scholarships. Today there are 27 distinct scholarships, hence this year WDHOF has been able to support 59 women and men with grants totalling over US$79,000. You can apply for a '2020 scholarship' in Autumn 2019.
